It's officially summer around our house. We have wrapped up the last of another year of homeschooling, yay! Our days are slowly melding into a much slower pace, waking a little later in the day, staying in pj's a little longer and spending more time on the porch taking naps. While I admit to liking the temperatures of summer the least ( I do not like hot weather!) I do love the lazy days of summer. It's the season I give myself permission to read and enjoy some light reading, some "chick lit" or "beach reads." I picked up two books yesterday to kick start my summer:
Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey and Fannie Flagg's The Whole Town's Talking because who can resist Fannie Flagg!
We visited 2nd & Charles yesterday and the children chose some summer reading. My older daughter is reading the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. I believe there are around 16 books in the series and it falls into the supernatural, maybe sci-fi category.
Other books the children are reading this summer includes The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This is a must read and appears on Amazons list of Great Gifts for Grads.
My youngest son who is 9 is beginning the Last Kids of Earth series. This series is on the New York Times and USA Today's bestselling list so we have high hopes for it.
My 13 year old daughter is reading the classic Phantom of the Opera and my 15 year old son is beginning the series Off to be the Wizard by Scott Meyer.
So what's on your reading list this summer?
