I read Ann Voskamp's One Thousand Gifts several years ago and admit, I fell hard for this book. The full title of the book is actually One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are and that is exactly what she demonstrates, her ability to recognize the gifts and blessings that make up her every day living that are often overlooked. I admit that I have a bucket list for my life, in fact, I create a bucket list for each season and will be posting my summer bucket list soon. Ann urges us to not get absorbed in life's big bucket lists of escaping to exotic places to escape the mundane of every day living. Instead, "embark on the transformative spiritual discipline of chronicling God's gifts. It's only in this expressing of gratitude for the life we already have, we discover the life we've always wanted." I began chronically my 1000 gifts after reading the first few chapters of the book and admit keeping a list has been both grounding for me and a huge blessing by learning to slow down and find joy and gratitude in the everyday moments of life. I want to share my 1000 list with you here on this site and will slowly add to my list over time. If you have not read One Thousand Gifts, I highly recommend it, it was life changing for me and definitely, pick up a small notebook, one that fits in your purse, and begin your own list, I am confident that you will quickly begin to feel grateful for the moments that make up your everyday.
