it's ok to grow slowly

It’s ok to grow slowly - this thought seems to contradict the fast paced world we love in - go, go, go ... grow, grow, grow, do, accomplish and then accomplish more etc. the pressure is real - but not necessary or wise. Right now we have 5-6 trees down on our farm - anytime we get days of rain, I brace myself for that loud popping and crackling sound of a trees roots tearing away from the soil because they were too shallow to hold on, because they didn’t grow deep enough.... plants that are not rooted deeply are vulnerable to being uprooted by too much rain or dried up by too much sun .... people are this way too .... the world moves fast, but this doesn’t mean we have to grow at the same pace- nature is a much better example because nature doesn’t succumb to the pressures of our world...the seed knows it has to come wholly undone, it must completely break open in order to grow, it must go through a stage of appearing completely destroyed before growth occurs. And as Maya Angelou points out “we delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the change it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” Nature is at peace with growth that is not forced and nature makes no apologies for the stages of growth, no matter how ugly it may appear at times. We need to give ourselves permission to follow nature’s lead on this... growth isn’t a competition and growth isn’t always pretty... growth is a process, it’s life... and life is a journey unique to each one of us... so just know that’s it’s ok to grow slowly 💗

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.
